Roadscan Video event Data Recorder
The Roadscan Video event Data Recorder is the all new gadget for car, van or lorry drivers. It is aimed more at the commercial market, though it would still be a wise investment for any private drivers. The Roadscan records your journeys on loop, along with taking a photo every minute and continually tracking your location.
Should you be involved in a collision or accident the road scan will automatically save the last 15 seconds of video. The video can be used as evidence to both the police and insurance parties to help protect you.
The RoadScan has a wide angle lens camera which faces forward out of your car. It will realise when an accident has occurred by a sudden change in driving movements, but you can also push the red button to manually store and capture video. It records in VGA format at a 640×480 resolution and from the videos I have seen it works well at night! Many cameras like this are let down by their low light ability. The RoadScan works well in low lights, which means that it will still work at night.
The RoadScan can store 10 incidents in its memory, though you should transfer them over to your computer after the incident. You can transfer them onto your computer via USB and the device has already created a video of the incident ready for you to burn onto DVD or email to any appropriate parties. All incidents have useful information provided along with giving details of the location on a map.

For commerical vehicles this device has been shown to cut the costs of accidents, especially when the third party is denying it is there fault. The RoadScan will show what really happened and it will save having to settle ‘knock for knock’. It has also shown that vehicles with the RoadScan installed use less fuel, as well as helping improve driver behaviour, which in addition helps to save money for any company or organisation.
